Speaker of the State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt Hon Timothy Owoeye has called on Online Media Practitioners to see the state as their main constituency and thereby be diligent and professional in the discharge of their duties.
The Speaker stated this during and interactive session he had with members of Osun Online Media Practitioners Association in his office in Osogbo on Friday.
Represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Shittu Olaitan, Hon Owoeye said the motive behind the meeting is to appreciate the service rendered to the community by the members of the association and also seek how the group will partner with the state.
He said he is aware of the importance of the media as the fourth Estate of the realm and urge them to ensure that stories to be dished out to the public are verified and authenticated.
He said the Assembly under his watch will not only operate an open system but also be friendly with the media.
In their reaction, members of the OOMPA led by the Secretary, Jare Tiamiyu advised the Speaker to stick to his words by ensuring that journalists are given enabling environment to operate.
The members tool turns to narrate their experiences and make recommendations to the Speaker as they vowed to be diligent, balanced and authentic with the reports.
